December 2006
Happy Holidays,
Please let me take a moment to thank all of you for reading Applied Tips month after month, especially those of you who have provided suggestions, corrections, and other feedback.
I'd also like to thank each of my clients who have been wonderful in their support of my business, almost two years old. Their support has helped me contribute back to the community with free assistance to a number of organizations like the
Women's Center, Animal Friends, and the soon-to-be Science Museum.
Now back to the tips! To kick off the shopping season, check out this cant-miss guide to safe online shopping.
Who doesn't like check lists? In Word, I explain how to create checkboxes right into your document to make for easy data entry (or checking off your holiday gifts).
For those of you working with Access forms, you'll love the article on adding a calendar control to make data entry a lot easier.
Excel's article discusses the rarely-used Outline feature to create automatic sums off long lists of data. In Outlook, I demonstrate how to
create a signature automatically at the bottom of your emails. And for PowerPoint, I finish last month's column on
taking your slides to the 'net with live and pre-recorded broadcasting.
I've also scheduled new classes at the Lodi Chamber of Commerce and the Lodi Public Library for the first half of 2007. Check them
out and reserve your seats now.
Wishing everyone a safe and error-free holiday,

Here's what I've put together for you
this month:
classes scheduled!
I'm thrilled to announce an all-new lineup of classes in Lodi at two venues: the Lodi Chamber of Commerce and the Lodi Public Library.
Topics include Excel shortcuts, learning PowerPoint, making the most out of Outlook, and general computer tips and tricks.
Classes at the Chamber are 45 minute, and include lunch, for just $35 a seat.
Classes at the Library are free, and hands-on, but seating is limited. They're scheduled for Mondays at 6pm.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
